Your Child's First Dental Visit
When your child turns 1, they are ready to join McLean Family Dentistry. During your child's first dental visit, our staff will do everything they can to make your child's appointment efficient, stress-free, and fun!

Before seeing Dr. McLean, our team will take plenty of comfortable x-rays, images, and other photos to get a clear idea of your child's current health. We believe in the power of oral education, providing little ones simple-to-understand explanations designed to help them form positive associations of dentists from the very beginning!

Checkups and Preventive Care
Dr. McLean follows oral health guidelines established by the American Academy of Pediatric Dentists (AAPD) advising children to be seen for checkups every 6 months. If our team discovers multiple cavities or early orthodontic concerns, we may suggest more frequent appointments.

Tooth-Colored Fillings & Dental Crowns For Children
Our team is focused on providing both care and patient education that is rooted in prevention. Even so, cavities can occur in children for a number of different reasons including decay, injury, unresolved orthodontic issues, and more.

To treat small cavities, we use effective tooth-colored dental fillings that are never made from amalgam (i.e. mercury fillings).

If we discover a large cavity caused by decay or an oral injury, Dr. McLean may recommend a full-coverage dental crown. These tooth-colored restorations are designed to save the tooth and seal away the pulp from potential bacteria.

Tooth Extractions For Kids
We may recommend a gentle tooth extraction to children suffering from decay or those who are experiencing crowding.

If your teen is experiencing pain in the back molars or toward the back of the mouth, they may need their wisdom teeth removed. Fortunately, we extract wisdom teeth right here, in-house. Your teen will get the gentle care they need from the dental team they already know and trust!
